MG Motor India has launched the MG Gloster Blackstorm in the Indian market. This edition model comes in black with red accents on the exterior and is priced at Rs 40.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The company says that this particular variant is inspired by the rugged looks of the SUV, which is a popular choice among customers in the segment. In addition, MG has also introduced the MY MG SHIELD program, which offers over 180 after-sales service options for its buyers.
Besides the black paint job, the Blackstorm Edition gets unique red accents on ORVMs, bumpers, and side panels. It also sports a distinct rear profile with exclusive Black Storm badging to stand out. Moreover, this premium SUV will also offer a stylish and sporty dual-tone roof.
On the inside, the MG Gloster Blackstorm features black upholstery and red ambient lighting for a dark interior theme. It also carries over most of the critical features from the regular model, including a 12.3-inch infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, multi-zone climate control, powered and ventilated seats, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, semi-digital instrument cluster, and more.
The company has also incorporated Level-1 ADAS in the Blackstorm Edition of the Gloster. The system offers functions like Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Driver Fatigue Reminder. In addition, the SUV is equipped with a BorgWarner transfer case equipped 4WD, which allows the vehicle to drive in different modes, including Snow, Mud, Eco, Sport, and Rock.
Regarding the engine, the MG Gloster Blackstorm edition retains the same 2.0-liter diesel powertrain as the standard model. The single-turbo variant delivers 161 bhp and 373 Nm of torque, while the twin-turbo version produces 215 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. Both variants are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new Blackstorm edition of the MG Gloster is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The former gets six captain seats, while the latter has a bench in the third row. In addition to this, the company has stopped offering the entry-level Super variant in the Blackstorm model and only retained the Sharp and Savvy trims.
The company has announced that the MG Gloster Blackstorm will be sold through over 200 outlets nationwide. The new special edition will be offered with the same finance schemes as the regular model, including interest rates of 9.5 percent and tenures of up to 75 months. In addition, the MG brand will offer its customers three years of unlimited mileage warranty and free periodic services. Furthermore, the Blackstorm edition will be offered with a 3-year subscription to its MY MG SHIELD program, which gives owners access to over 180 after-sales service options and a three-year roadside assistance plan. Additionally, the Blackstorm will come with a three-year premium maintenance plan that includes free labor services up to 60 times during the ownership period.
