Insta360 announced its new flagship 360-degree camera in Insta360 X6, delivering a significant set of updates targeted at content creators, travelers, and explorers, released ago. The Insta360 X6, announced in August 2030, and latest effort from the camera-maker to help everyday consumers achieve professional-quality 360-degree video as well as a first in a decade of camera innovation from Insta360.

The mini-version of these was included in the lastf-5and the photography drone, but theX6a is equipped with two, a bit larger and more sensitive mini-version, with which it can absorb 33% more light than those used in the previous modelX5.
For all video producers, being able to shoot native 8 K content at 50 fps is one of the best upgrades. The faster frame rate at 8 K brings users with more options when filming fast moving topics, travel content and scenes outdoors. Native Dolby Vision support also allows for more color data with the 10-bit color.
Insta360 has also announced an upgrade to the processing hardware inside the X6. The camera builds in a 4nm AI chipset that is paired with a pair of different imaging processing chips. The company claims it is much more powerful than the architecture in the last generation of X series cameras while being more power-efficient, providing a distinct boost to image quality, stabilization, and AI features.
In the video and low-light department, the X6 gets a new low-light mode, which is provided by new ambient light sensors. It also features the AdaptiveTone 2.0 system, which meters the lenses on each side separately and is capable of exposing two frames per shot, making it easier to handle challenging scenes, including bright and dark areas. These are things you care about as a creator if you do a lot of shooting indoors or at night.
Camera does not stop with the classic 360 shooting the X6 is described as a three-in-one camera by Insta360, which can be a 360 camera, a gimbal-style tracking camera, and an action camera with a single lens. The single-lens camera records at a maximum of 5K at 60fps, and slow recordings are available at up to 4K and 120fps. The wide-angle mode can shoot video at a field of view of up to 170 degrees.
Artificial intelligence is also a big part of the X6, with features like InstaFrame 2.0 automatically keeping humans, pets, and other subjects centre frame, while delivering flat video that can easily be shared without the need for 360-degree edit. The company has added AI-based Director tools that can analyze videos when recorded, selecting exciting moments, before automatically stitching together footage.
The battery also gets an upgrade. The X6 is fitted with a 2,600mAh battery and is capable of recording for up to 140 minutes at 8K30fps as DJI’s specifications. Fast charging on the X6 can fast charge the battery to 80% in about 24 minutes. The camera is waterproof at a depth of 20 meters, without a case.
